We endeavor to provide an inviting alternative, making our patrons feel good and fostering a sense of community in every visit.
Our journey began with a simple idea: to create a community-centric gathering spot that marries good-for-you food with a welcoming ambiance. We believe in nourishing both body and soul. That's why we've crafted a menu filled with delectable breakfast offerings, gourmet salads, sandwiches, and flavorful bites that not only tantalize the taste buds but also uplift the spirit. Paired with our carefully curated selection of espresso beverages and alcoholic drinks, we strive to provide an inviting atmosphere where every visit feels like a warm embrace.
"The meaning of Lei Brilla comes from the heart. My father has texted me shine every day since I was a sophomore in college. In my late teens to my twenties, I was navigating my way through life and trying to find that all-encompassing light within me that my father reminded me every day to find. I have found myself in more ways than one living in Portland. I have found peace with myself and found my home in this community.
Lei Brilla means 'she shines' in Italian. That "she" is me. "

Beginning July 2025, Lei Brilla Café will implement an 18% service fee on all beverages and food.
This fee will not apply to any retail items or dry goods.
We will also no longer accept gratuity. This service fee is not a tip. It is a consistent, visible way to support:
• Sustainable and predictable wages for all team members
• Equitable compensation across both front-of-house and back-of-house roles
• Long-term career sustainability in the hospitality industry
The service fee directly benefits all hourly staff, including support team members. It does not benefit the cafe owner, cafe manager, or business as a whole.
A Note from Riley and Scout
This decision has been made with deep care and a long view. As a café not even a year old, every decision we make shapes the foundation of who we are and what we stand for.
What matters most is making sure our team feels valued, protected, and proud to work here. This shift is one of the clearest ways we can stand behind that. We’re not just building a café—we’re building a workplace that puts people first.
